This Blazer legend is IN! UAB Basketball Head Coach Andy Kennedy has come home to coach his alma mater after head coaching stints at Cincinnati and Ole Miss. Justin Craft is IN! A champion for the return of Blazer football, anyone will tell you that Justin is as ever faithful and ever loyal as it gets. Justin got his BS degree in Business in 1997 after patrolling the secondary as a defensive back for the UAB football team. Now he uses his degree to help people all across the country with their finances as president of Nowlin and Associates. You and Justin are in this together – From Here On IN.

Jessica Brown is IN! This Communication Studies grad oversees the content team at Big Communications, leading paid and organic strategies across the agency. She joined the organization in 2016 to manage content efforts for Valvoline™, inclusive of social strategy, digital community planning and influencer campaigns. Brown was a student intern for the UAB Athletic Department, then spent 10 years in professional motorsports before joining Big.

Anita Clemon is IN! This former NAS President now serves as assistant vice president for Institutional Equity. Anita works every day to make our alma mater more accessible to all. Steve Mitchell

Steve Mitchell is IN! This Blazer All-American’s jersey is retired in the rafters of Bartow Arena, and now he has a home in your new National Alumni Society as well. Steve uses the lessons he learned from Coach Gene Bartow as a student at UAB and passes that wisdom on to today’s youth as the athletic director at Altamont. As Blazers, we’ve always been proud of Steve – now we’re proud to have him as a part of our Alumni family, 150,000 strong.

The Craigs are IN—with seven degrees from UAB between them! Skip, Mark, Jennifer, and Emily take the meaning of UAB Family to an entirely different level. Skip earned his M.B.A. from UAB in 1990, and his son, Mark, earned a B.S. in Business in 2005 (while serving as president of Gang Green) and an M.B.A. in 2012. Emily earned her B.S. in Education in 2011 and an M.P.A. from UAB in 2015. Mark’s wife, Jennifer, earned her B.S. from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2009 and became the first Doctor Craig when she earner her O.D. from the School of Optometry in 2013. No matter the school, the degree, or the year, as alumni of UAB, the Craigs are all automatically enrolled in the NAS at no cost—no family discount needed. The same goes for you! You know Tammi Thomas is IN! Tammi first made her mark as a runner on scholarship for UAB cross-country and track in the early 1980s. After a 32-year career in software, Tammi’s still ever faithful and ever loyal to the green and gold. But you don’t have to be a three-time UAB graduate, former student-athlete and National Alumni Society Board member like her to get access to all the benefits of the new NAS. Ryan Robinett is IN! The President-Elect of the National Alumni Society received his MBA from UAB in 2006. Recently, Ryan left corporate life to found his own startup, Multiply. An entrepreneur at heart who’s focused on helping businesses scale and grow, Ryan’s UAB alumni family recently grew by over 130,000. John Barranco
John Barranco is IN.

John Barranco is IN! John leads business development efforts for Morgan & Co. where he brings together a team of media experts, who specialize in media strategy, buying and analytics, to help clients acquire more customers, at a reduced cost per acquisition. Previously, John was Senior Associate Commissioner for Corporate Sales and Marketing with the Sun Belt Conference and the Associate Athletic Director for External Relations for the University of New Orleans Athletic Department. This 1999 communication studies graduate is active in the New Orleans community, where he is involved in several charitable causes and spends his free time coaching youth sports.
