Mini Infection Prevention Bootcamp for Northeastern District Alabama Regional Long-Term Care Facilities in Oxford, AL  and Surrounding Areas

CEUs: AL Statewide AHEC Program is an approved provider of continuing hours for nurses by the AL Board of Nursing (Provider ABNP1584 Expiration Date 6/14/2028) and has awarded this program 4.2 contact hours.

The Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators has reviewed and approved the seminar entitled “Mini Infection Prevention Bootcamp for Northeastern District Alabama Regional LTC Facilities in Oxford” for 3.5 hours of continuing education credit for licensed nursing home administrators in the State of Alabama.

Cost: Free, but seating is limited and registration is required. Seats are available on a first come first serve basis.

Course Purpose: This course is aimed towards infection prevention and control healthcare professionals in the Long-Term Care Facility setting, located in North Eastern Alabama Region (includes the following Alabama counties: Etowah, Cherokee, Blount, St. Clair, Calhoun, Cleburne, Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Coosa, Tallapoosa,  Chambers, Marshall and DeKalb) The purpose of this course is to provide healthcare professionals in LTCFs with the knowledge and tools to run a competent and inclusive infection control program within their facility. The attendees will learn about the importance of hand hygiene, environmental services, the how, when and what to report of infectious diseases and outbreaks, acquire an understanding of OSHA requirements for initial and annual N-95 fit testing and proper documentation for employees. Each facility that attends will receive a N-95 Fit Testing Kit. The attendees will also be provided with a better understanding of the General Infection Control Assessment Response and how this can benefit their facilities.  

Course Objectives:

  • Describe the role of Infection Prevention and Control in Long-Term Care settings.
  • Verbalize who should report, how to report, and when to report Reportable Diseases and Conditions.
  • Identify the role of preventing healthcare associated infections (HAIs) through environmental surface disinfection.
  • Review the regulatory fit-testing requirements in LTCF settings.
  • Identify the documentation needed for fit testing and how to store and maintain records.
