Nursing Home Administrators: The Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators has reviewed and approved the seminar entitled “Mini Infection Prevention Bootcamp for North Alabama Regional Long-Term Care Facilities in Jefferson County” for 3.5 hours of continuing education credit for licensed nursing home administrators in the State of Alabama.
Cost: Free, but seating is limited and registration is required. Seats are available on a first come first serve basis.

Course Purpose: This course is designed for healthcare professionals specializing in infection prevention and control within Long-Term Care Facilities in Jefferson Counties and the Surrounding Regions Region. The goal of this course is to equip LTCF professionals with the necessary knowledge and resources to effectively manage an infection control program in their facility. Participants will learn about reporting outbreaks to the ADPH, practicing proper hand hygiene, maintaining clean environmental services, conducting infection surveillance, and implementing infection prevention protocols during medication administration. Additionally, attendees will gain insight into the General Infection Control Assessment Response and how it can enhance their facility’s operations. Join us for the April 3rd Mini Bootcamp to achieve these objectives and enhance your infection control practices.
Course Objectives/Agenda:
- Describe the role of Infection Prevention and Control in Long-Term Care settings
- Verbalize who should report, how to report, and when to report Reportable Diseases and Conditions.
- Identify the role of preventing healthcare associated infections (HAIs) through environmental surface disinfection
- Discuss impact of MDRO’s in Long-Term Care Nursing Facilities and how Enhanced Barrier Precautions can be implemented to decrease the spread of MDROs
- Demonstrate how to use Glo-Germ in their facility.
- Discuss the difference in Loeb and McGeer Criteria as they apply to surveillance in LTCF.
- Identify the functions and responsibilities of the nurse/medication tech during medication pass as related to infection control procedures.
