Welcome to the Alabama Nursing Home and Long Term Care Facility Strike Team and Infrastructure Project!

The Alabama Nursing Home and Long Term Care Facility Strike Team and Infrastructure Project (LTC Strike Team) was established to assist long-term care facilities during their response to SARS-CoV-2 infections and to build and maintain the infection prevention infrastructure necessary to support resident and staff safety in these facilities throughout the state of Alabama. The Project is a collaborative effort of the Alabama Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Communicable Disease Infectious Diseases & Outbreaks Division, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, long-term care facility experts, and Infection Prevention and Control Specialists.

What We Do

The LTC Strike Team utilizes the CDCs Infection Control and Response Assessment (ICAR) tools to assist nursing homes and other long-term care facilities in Alabama in preparing for COVID-19. The LTC Strike team also provides training and technical assistance that facilities may need to build and maintain their infection prevention infrastructure in order to support resident, visitor, and facility healthcare personnel safety.
