Doug and Renita Rigney are IN! Since meeting at UAB, this couple has spent their long careers serving the students and community of Birmingham. Doug has four degrees from the UAB School of Engineering from his B.S.E. in 1980 to his Ph.D. in 1989. Renita earned her B.S.N. from the School of Nursing in 1980. Doug and Renita have each served a term as National Alumni Society president, making them a real first family of the green and gold. As alumni, they now receive automatic, free membership in the NAS, just like every student after graduation. Sign-ups and dues are out—From Here On IN.

Jennie Dawson

Jennie Dawson is IN.

Jennie is IN! Jennie has been working as a psychiatric nurse practitioner since completing her doctoral degree in nursing practice with UAB in 2017. Jennie has been working in healthcare since age 19 as a nurse while continuing her education to learn more about how to help others gain health.

Jane Akin

Jane Akin is IN.
Are you?

Jane Akin is IN! In 2017 she earned her B.S. in Nursing and is now a registered nurse helping the people of Alabama.

Deborah King-Pressley

Deborah King-Pressley is IN.

Deborah King-Pressley is IN! She earned a bachelor’s degree from the UAB School of Nursing in 1984 and went on to work at Cooper Green Hospital for 30 years.

Kimberley Smith

Kimberley Smith is IN.

Kimberley Smith is IN! She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from UAB in 2014 before becoming a nurse practitioner in North Carolina. Kimberley has now returned to UAB in order to obtain her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.

Christina Snoddy is IN! Christina graduated from the UAB School of Nursing in 1997 with a master’s degree in nursing.

Derry Johnson

Derry Johnson is IN.

Derry Johnson is IN! This nurse turned lawyer earned her first degree from UAB in 1985 when she graduated with a BSN from the School of Nursing. She then worked as a nurse before going back to school to become a lawyer. Derry is now the owner of The Law Offices of Derry R Johnson, LLC, and specializes as an Elder and Family Law, Divorce and Probate Attorney. She also has her Registered Nurse License and Nursing Home Administration License active.

Lindsey Rickles

Lindsey Rickles is IN.

Lindsey Rickles is IN! She earned her BSN from the UAB School of Nursing in 2005 and is currently working as an RN, MSN for the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Servies, while she pursues her doctorate nursing degree here at UAB.

Krista Niedermeier

Krista Niedermeier is IN! Krista is a three-time graduate from UAB who earned her BSN in 1998, her MNA in 2006, and her DNP in 2013. This caring and gifted alum is now a certified registered nurse anesthetist for Children’s Hospital.

Raegan Rogers is IN! She earned her MSN in 2017 from the UAB School of Nursing. Raegan has since worked to heal the people of Birmingham and is currently a nurse practitioner at Cooper Green Mercy Health Services.

Cori Johnson is IN! She graduated from UAB in 2010 with a B.S., 2014 with an M.S., and 2017 with a DNP! Cori is now a board-certified nurse practitioner and is passing along her education to future nurses as an assistant professor of nursing here at UAB.
