Jessica Brown is IN! This Communication Studies grad oversees the content team at Big Communications, leading paid and organic strategies across the agency. She joined the organization in 2016 to manage content efforts for Valvoline™, inclusive of social strategy, digital community planning and influencer campaigns. Brown was a student intern for the UAB Athletic Department, then spent 10 years in professional motorsports before joining Big.
Celestia Morgan is IN! She honed her photography skills during her undergrad studies at UAB and now showcases her talents across the country. As a graduate of UAB, her membership to the NAS is free and automatic–From Here On IN.
The Craigs are IN—with seven degrees from UAB between them! Skip, Mark, Jennifer, and Emily take the meaning of UAB Family to an entirely different level. Skip earned his M.B.A. from UAB in 1990, and his son, Mark, earned a B.S. in Business in 2005 (while serving as president of Gang Green) and an M.B.A. in 2012. Emily earned her B.S. in Education in 2011 and an M.P.A. from UAB in 2015. Mark’s wife, Jennifer, earned her B.S. from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2009 and became the first Doctor Craig when she earner her O.D. from the School of Optometry in 2013. You know Tammi Thomas is IN! Tammi first made her mark as a runner on scholarship for UAB cross-country and track in the early 1980s. After a 32-year career in software, Tammi’s still ever faithful and ever loyal to the green and gold. John Barranco is IN! John leads business development efforts for Morgan & Co. where he brings together a team of media experts, who specialize in media strategy, buying and analytics, to help clients acquire more customers, at a reduced cost per acquisition. Previously, John was Senior Associate Commissioner for Corporate Sales and Marketing with the Sun Belt Conference and the Associate Athletic Director for External Relations for the University of New Orleans Athletic Department. This 1999 communication studies graduate is active in the New Orleans community, where he is involved in several charitable causes and spends his free time coaching youth sports.

Janice Ward is IN! This former National Alumni Society president first turned her tassel at UAB in 1989. She’s been a fixture on campus ever since, currently serving as director of faculty affairs in the office of the Senior Vice Provost. Her son, Torrey, joined her as an alumnus in 2001. Janice Kennedy is IN! She earned her B.A. in 2017 from the School of Health Professionals.
Dr. Rodney Tucker is IN! Dr. Tucker is a widely published expert in the field of palliative care who has called UAB home for decades. He’s also an active alum, having served as National Alumni Society president in 1994. But you don’t have to lead your field as a physician like Rodney to enjoy everything the National Alumni Society has to offer. We’re opening membership in the NAS up to all Blazers. Melissa Yes is IN! Melissa is an outstanding artist with an eye for excellence in multiple media. This 2006 and 2012 grad uses her incredible talents to blend art and science to create objects, installations, video art, and performance pieces that truly inspire.
