Due to our unique expertise in peripheral nerve endothelial biology and neuroinflammation, we are interested in collaborating with scientists in academia and industry in projects geared towards the fundamental understanding of the blood-nerve barrier (BNB) in health and the biologically relevant alterations/ adaptation in different disorders, including chronic neuropathic pain. Such studies include peripheral nerve drug permeability studies relevant to target drug delivery or preventing endoneurial entry and retention, transendothelial water flux in physiological and pathophysiological conditions, near-physiological endoneurial leukocyte trafficking studies relevant to specific peripheral neuropathies, nerve injury and chronic neuropathic pain guided by in situ observational studies using well-characterized peripheral nerve biopsies from affected patients. Opportunities also exist for collaborative research in inflammatory myopathies, including inclusion body myositis, guided by our experience in peripheral neuroinflammation.
