Kendra Royston is IN! Kendra received her Ph.D. in biology with a focus in cancer epigenetics in 2018. She went on to continue her post-doc education at the University of Chicago before joining Eli Lilly and Company in their department of Global Scientific Communications. Dr. Royston is also the founder of Stupid Science Inc., a nonprofit organization that aims to increase diversity in STEM fields.
Kristin Lottman is IN! Kristin has earned three degrees from UAB: a Bachelor of Science in 2013, a Master of Science in 2015, and a Ph.D. in 2018, all in biomedical engineering. She is now a medical writer for Medpace in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Seena Mathew is IN! Seena graduated from UAB with a Ph.D. in neurobiology in 2007, later earning a MPH. She is now an assistant professor of biology at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Alan Jones is IN! In 2015, he graduated with his Ph.D. from the UAB School of Health Professions and is now the program director of the Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Health and Business Administration at Baylor University.
Gary Peters is IN! This two-time graduate earned his EDS in 2000 and his Ph.D. in 2002 from the UAB School of Education. Today, he is an associate professor at UAB.
Protul Shrikant is IN! He graduated with his Ph.D. from the UAB school of Joint Health Sciences in 1995 and is now a professor of immunobiology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson.
Thomas Ramsey is IN! Dr. Ramsey earned his Ph.D. in epidemiology from the UAB School of Public Health in 2017. He is now working at the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB, studying colon and prostate cancer in the minority underserved population.
Shahariar Rabby is IN! Hello! I’m Shahariar Rabby, self taught Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Scientist & software engineer focused on building intelligent machine with creative interfaces & experiences. Currently, I am a Ph.D. student working under the advisement of Dr. Chengcui Zhang at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. My research focuses on Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Data Science. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to make the conceptual practical to a computer program.
Sheikh Abujar is IN! Sheikh is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) under the advisement of Dr. Chengcui Zhang. Sheikh has received the prestigious Blazer Doctorate Fellowship. His research focuses on applications of deep learning, computer vision, speech recognition, and data science. Sheikh likes traveling, swimming, cycling, and playing badminton.
Joyanta Jyoti Mondal is IN! Joyanta is from Bangladesh and is currently a Doctoral student working under the advisement of Dr. Yuliang Zheng at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. His research focuses on the security aspect of Deep Learning architectures. Outside of his academic interests, he loves to play games and watch TV Shows and anime. He loves immersing herself in the virtual worlds of his favorite video games and challenging his friends to epic battles. He is also a big fan of outdoor activities and tries to go cycling and roaming around whenever he gets a chance.
Tekeda Ferguson is IN! Tekeda Ferguson, PhD, MSPH, MPH, is currently Chair and Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) School of Public Health in New Orleans. She has a secondary faculty appointment in the School of Medicine, Department of Physiology where she is an Associate Director of the LSUHSC Comprehensive Alcohol Research Center (CARC) Admin Core. Dr. Ferguson has expertise in chronic disease epidemiology and her work focuses on taking a biopsychosocial approach to understanding the social environment as well as traditional pathophysiologic measures on the influence of chronic diseases such as diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and cancer.
