Overall research focus in our laboratory is to understand the mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases and develop novel therapeutic strategies to either limit the disease or promote cardiac repair.  Our approach involves use of molecular, cellular and physiological techniques including use of relevant animal models of cardiac disease, diabetes and chronic stress.

Dr. Prasanna’s laboratory is part of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, a joint department within the UAB School of Medicine and School of Engineering.
