Message from The Chief

Welcome to UAB Hospital Medicine! Founded as a 10-bed hospitalist service dedicated to the inpatient care of UAB Prime-Care patients only, the group and the practice of Hospital Medicine have evolved significantly over the past two decades broadening to an average daily census of ~250 general medicine and subspecialty patients, consultative services (procedure service and general medicine) and integrated practice models developed in collaboration with our clinical partners to meet the needs of our patients. As the largest inpatient provider of patient care at UAB we recognize our ability to positively influence the culture of inpatient care and we take that to heart. We are committed to being leaders in all aspects of inpatient care and to consistently modeling a mindset of continuous improvement that we hope will be contagious. Lastly, I believe strongly that if I take good care of our team, and the members of our team take good care of each other, this will lead to better care for our patients. Therefore, in Hospital Medicine we focus on investing in our faculty and staff, both in their professional development and in their overall wellness, so that they can give their best to every patient.
