Amr Elhamamsy, a fourth-year cancer biology theme student in Dr. Samant’s lab, has been awarded an O’Neal NextGen predoctoral Scholars grant for 2022. Elhamamsy’s proposal focuses on studying and elucidating the hypoxia-related mechanisms that cause metastatic cancer spread. His study can help to develop new approaches to combat metastatic breast cancer and enhance the results and quality of life of metastatic cancer patients. We are really proud of him for this incredible achievement!
Congratulations on Amr’s new Cancer Research review
Congratulations on Amr’s new review titled “Ribosome biogenesis: a central player in cancer metastasis and therapeutic resistance.” As this review summarizes various aspects of dysregulation of ribosome biogenesis and the impact of resultant onco-ribosomes on malignant tumor behavior, therapeutic resistance, and clinical outcome.
Congratulations on Sarah’s new Lab. Invest. paper
Congratulations on Sarah’s new paper titled “Novel role of the dietary flavonoid fisetin in suppressing rRNA biogenesis.” As its findings highlight the potential of ribosomal RNA biogenesis as a possible treatment of metastatic breast cancer.
