Researcher

Mohamed Halaby Elbahoty graduated from the School of Medicine at Alexandria University, Egypt, in 2011. He obtained a Master’s (2017) and a PhD (2022) in hemato-oncology and he served as a lecturer in the Internal Medicine department, Hematology unit Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University. There, he found himself interested in learning more about the molecular pathology of cancer and finding solutions for refractory and metastatic malignancies.

He joined UAB in 2018 as fellowship observer in bone marrow transplantation for 4 months. Then he returned to UAB again in 2022 as a visiting scientist in the Department of Pathology, Division of Molecular and Cellular Pathology, for a better understanding of cancer immunology.

Now in the Samant lab, Mohamed is interested in investigating the role of Wnt pathway and ribosome biogenesis in the pathogenesis of breast cancer and multiple myeloma.

In his free time, he enjoys football (soccer), reading, and traveling to see his family and friends.
