Dominique C. Hinshaw, Ph.D. earned her undergraduate degrees, Microbiology and Philosophy, at Auburn University in 2017. She joined Dr. Shevde-Samant’s laboratory in 2018 and her thesis work had focused on understanding the role of Hedgehog signaling in the tumor microenvironment of breast cancer. In particular, she elucidated the role of Hedgehog signaling in sculpting immune components towards a suppressive phenotype within the tumor microenvironment and at the metastatic niche. She successfully defended her Ph.D. in Fall 2022. During her free time, she enjoyes going on hikes with her dogs, making candles, reading, and trying new dessert places in the Birmingham area.
