MANNERS provides manuscript and review training through an annual in person 2-day workshop. You can bring a work in progress and develop over the session, come and learn from the ground up, and/or deepen your understanding and confidence in the writing process. This is open to all levels of trainee and early career faculty.

Participant Information
This event is open to ALL trainee levels through early stage investigators. This is an in person event.
Undergraduates, Gap Year Interns, and predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows, and early stage faculty in biomedical sciences and/or medicine are encouraged to participate. No matter the experience level, or type of manuscript, this event is for you.
We encourage participants to bring a work in progress manuscript, whether a case, study, review, editorial, research article, or any other scientific manuscript.
If you don’t have a manuscript yet, or your wanting to think about how to strengthen your next one you are able to participate, engage, and learn as well.
Audience and Outcomes
Our Audience:
- Writers with a manuscript in progress – or –
- Trainees new to scientific writing – or –
- Writers exploring new types of manuscript submissions – or –
- All of the above
Broad WIP Categories (including but not limited to):
- Review/editorial article (meta-analysis, literature review, invited editorial, letter to editor)
- Clinical or Case Study (clinical or population-based observations, RCT, case study report)
- Basic Science article (original research article, research report/letter)
Learning Outcomes:
- To enhance manuscript writing skills through workshop sessions and cohort feedback
- To develop a deeper understanding of the various types of manuscripts
- To network with peers, near peers, and established faculty to broaden connections, mentoring, and potential allies in revisions.
Work in Progress Details
We hope you are able to contribute a work in progress (WIP) manuscript for the workshop. If participating with a work in progress manuscript, we will work with your writing as an active learning approach. You and your small group will learn about different aspects of developing a manuscript and then talk through your WIP along with others in your small group. No matter the
