Introduction

As part of the Radiology Department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, our lab develops new techniques and methods for quantifying the information in medical images (MRI, CT, PET).  As part of Neurobiology and Vision Sciences, we explore the physiological correlates of visual cognition and visual behavior with a special interest the basis of eye movement dysfunction associated with neuropathologies. Ultimately, we want to explore how individuals derive information from their visual environment, then apply what we learn to real world problems. This combination of interests is now leading us to work on new tools for studying the brain based on minimally-invasive, anatomically and molecularly targeted drug release.
