Diet PAL study (Diet, Pancreas, and Lipid)
Diet treatment for type 2 diabetes
Have you ever been told you have high blood sugar? UAB Department of Nutrition Sciences is conducting a nutrition study looking at the effects of diet in adults with type 2 diabetes (high blood sugar) for less than 5 years. You may qualify if you are between the ages of 35-65, are African American or European American, are not using insulin, and are willing to travel to UAB for testing visits.
Qualified participants will receive weekly groceries, personal health information, group support sessions with a Registered Dietitian, and monetary compensation for their time.
A Weight Loss Study for African American Women
UAB Department of Nutrition Sciences is conducting a nutrition study looking at the effects of diet in African American women. You may qualify if you are between the ages of 19-45, are an African American female, overweight, have NOT been diagnosed with Diabetes, are willing to consume a prescribed diet, are NOT pregnant, and are willing to travel to UAB for testing visits.
Qualified participants will receive weekly groceries, personal health information, group support sessions with a Registered Dietitian, and monetary compensation for their time.

Sunshine Study
Nutrition intervention in adolescents with Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease – NAFLD
Has your child been diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)? If so, he/she could be eligible to participate in a 6-month research study that is investigating whether changes in diet composition affect various health outcomes in adolescents with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. You will receive diet counseling with a Registered Dietitian and groceries at no cost. Compensation for participation will also be provided. Participants cannot be claustrophobic.
