Complete the worksheet(s) for each of the disinfectants using List N and disinfectant product labels.

The worksheet is a PDF and Word Document form for you to download and keep for future reference and use upon completion. If you have questions regarding how to complete any portion of the worksheet please email arcipc@uab.edu.

List N Resources:

Fill out the following information for a specific disinfectant product using the product label or EPA’s List N:

General

  • EPA registration number
  • Active Ingredient(s)
  • Product name
  • Parent company/producer
  • Virus(es) it targets
  • To kill SARS-CoV-2 (COVID), follow disinfection directors for which pathogens
  • Why is this product on List N?

Usage

  • Contact time
  • Formulation type/application instructions
  • Surface type
  • Use site

Safety (use the factsheets and product labels)

  • Should I wear protective gear (e.g., gloves, mask) while using it? (If protective gear is required, the label will tell you, look in the directions.)
  • Does this product need to be diluted?
  • Can this product be used to disinfect/sanitize food-contact surfaces?
    • If so, any special considerations when using on food-contact surfaces?
    • Is this product safe for dishes, glassware or eating utensils?
  • Does this product have a precautionary statement/warning?
    • If so, what does it say?
  • Storage and disposal requirements
    • What are this product’s storage considerations?
    • How should you dispose of this product?
    • How should you dispose of the container?
    • Can you refill the container?
    • Can you use or store this products near heat or an open flame?
  • Health and safety:
    • Is this product flammable?(e.g. can it catch fire spontaneously or burn easily)
    • Is this product corrosive? (e.g. eat through materials or living tissue)
    • Is this product reactive? (e.g. air, water, or other substances)
    • Is this product toxic? (e.g. poisonous and may cause illness or death)
  • Exposure pathways:
    • What are the potential respiratory effects? (e.g., coughing, burning, shortness of breath, wheezing, asthma/asthma exacerbation)
    • What are the potential contact issues? (e.g., skin irritant, burn, rash)
    • What are other potential health effects? (e.g., nausea, watery eyes, chest pain, throat/nose/eye irritation, pneumonia)
    • Exposure risks/limits
      • General
      • Acute
  • Locate the first aid instructions. Read carefully.
  • Risk mitigation strategies (e.g., masking/gloves/other PPE, ventilation)
  • Population considerations (e.g., young, old, pregnant, breastfeeding)
