We investigate the mechanisms that determine cell fate in development and cancer.

Every cell in an organism has a (nearly) identical genome – so how do cells have unique identities and functions? Specialization occurs by differential gene expression, locking in a lineage program.

I. We interrogate how the epigenome establishes these gene expression programs.

II. We also explore how lineage programs go awry during oncogenesis.
