About Me

My name is Cindy and I am a sociologist who studies care work. I am originally from Oregon and have lived in Birmingham for three years. I came to UAB to work with great people who understand health and quality of life, especially for older adults. My interest in care for older adults is not purely academic. I have worked as an informal caregiver for aging family members, as well as a formal care worker for children and adults with developmental disabilities. I love to talk to people about their work and what makes it difficult and meaningful for them.
