The LAUNCH Lab uses several different neuroimaging techniques in order to improve our understanding of how the brain is affected by different medical diagnoses and treatments, including how this affects the brain’s development during childhood into adulthood. In particular, we are interested in how the brain’s circuitry changes in response to targeted behavioral interventions that promote everyday independence in children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and blood disorders.

Our neuroimaging research is conducted at the Civitan International Neuroimaging Laboratory (CINL) at UAB Highlands Hospital, which is home to the powerful 3 Tesla MRI scanner dedicated for research purposes.

We are currently reaching out to children and teens, ages 9 to 18, from the local community to participate in a study to help us understand how the brain works. This includes paper and pencil tests of thinking skills and a brain scan in the MRI. If interested in learning more or participating in this study, please Contact Us.
