Greater-Birmingham Alliance to Stop Pollution
The 2020-21 cohort of HPAs worked with GASP to develop an advocacy plan to address environmental injustice in the North Birmingham community. Students wrote a memo to Mayor Woodfin arguing for the establishment of an Equity & Environmental Justice Committee, and a petition to show community support. The students also organized a webinar exploring environmental justice in the North Birmingham community.

For this first year, we had three exceptional undergraduate students participate: Rose Albert (Chemistry), Jake Lindahl (Political Science), and Odion Ovbiagele (Public Health).
