Clinical Research Coordiantor

Biography

My name is Arundhati Sawant and I am a Clinical Research Coordinator at Dr Chu’s lab.

I assist in conducting research in Colorectal and Pancreatic cancer patients as well as collaborating with the Institutional Review Board for creating new projects and maintaining the existing ones. I was born and raised in India, where I completed my medical school. After graduating, I practiced medicine in different healthcare settings ranging from Primary Health care to tertiary healthcare. Thereafter moving to the USA, I was blessed to be a part of this incredible team in the Department of Surgery- Gastro-Intestinal division since February 2019. My journey with Clinical research began with the opportunity to work on an incredible project, the Virtual-Acute Care for Elders. Being deeply involved in this project, spiked my interest in clinical research and improved my Communication and Interpersonal skills with patients. It was great to present my work at the American Surgical Congress 2022 in Orlando Florida.

Currently, my main work involves studying Phenotype predictors in Colorectal cancer and Using Digital health technology for the survivorship of Pancreatic cancer. I will be obtaining MBA from the Collat School of Business at UAB. In the future, I aspire to obtain a clinical residency position. I love spending time and traveling with my son (his enthusiasm is contagious and never lets me be bored!), classical Indian music, cooking, and photography.
