General Surgery Resident

Biography

My name is Alizeh abbas, and I am a General Surgery Resident at UAB. I was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, and I went to medical school at the Aga Khan University, Pakistan. Following graduation from medical school, I dedicated my time to research focused on global surgery, health disparities and equity, surgical outcomes, and qualitative methodology. I was thrilled to then begin my general surgery training at UAB where I just completed two years of clinical training. I am very excited to now be joining Dr. Chu’s lab as a postdoctoral research fellow during my dedicated academic development time! I am passionate about addressing disparities in surgical care, and my work will focus on patient enagement technologies and patient activation.
