WHO WE SERVE
The Transition to Wellness Virtual Program is a virtual wellness program for adults ages 18 and over who are experiencing challenges in adjusting to life transitions. Some examples of transitions we experience in life are:
- Moving to a new city
- Graduating from high school or college
- New job or retirement
- Getting married
- Having a child
- Death of a loved one
- New diagnosis (acute or chronic) of self or a loved one
Some examples of troubles we may experience during transition:
- Emotional distress
- Trouble sleeping
- Feelings of disorganization and imbalance
- Less time spent doing things you enjoy
- Uncertainty and self-doubt
It does not take a major life transition to make us feel off-balance. Life is full of unexpected challenges that can disrupt and impact our daily routine. Sometimes we feel like this without really knowing why (and that’s OK!). These challenges happen to everyone and that is where we can help you through virtual wellness.
WHAT WE DO
Your daily routines and habits are very important. They help you maintain stability through life’s changes. If you are struggling with your routine during a life transition – we are here to get you back on track.
An occupational therapy student, under the supervision of a UAB OT faculty member, will work with you on your emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Together, we will work as a team – you with our student and faculty member – to improve your daily routine and develop healthy habits.
Our work and support include, but is not limited to:
- Stress management skills
- Guidance on physical activity and healthy eating habits
- Recommendations for unemployment/return to work
- Tools to promote better sleep patterns
- Establishment of routines
- Health and wellness screenings
