The Nanda Lab

The Nanda Lab focusses on understanding how genetic factors predispose individuals to cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death worldwide. Specifically, we strive to determine the molecular mechanism(s) associated with these genetic factors with the ultimate goal of using this information to develop new translational therapies against cardiovascular disease.

Major methodologies used in this lab include:
– Molecular biology techniques (qPCR, Western blotting, Immunoprecipitation, Immunostaining)
– Cell biology assays (gain and loss-of-function studies)
– Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP)
– RNAseq
– Genetically engineered mouse models of cardiovascular disease
– Human genetics
– Utilization of publicly available genome-wide genetic and bioinformatics resources
