The UAB Lung Imaging Lab focuses on the use of advanced imaging techniques and image processing to aid early diagnosis and phenotyping of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other lung diseases. Members of the lab bring complementary expertise in pulmonary, radiology, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science. We have developed several new imaging-based metrics that aid early diagnosis of COPD, improve understanding of structure-function relationships in lung disease, refine prognostication, and phenotype disease for targeted therapies.
The lab is funded by R-series grants from the National Institutes of Health.
