On Friday, December 1, 2023 the UAB Disability Health Coalition hosted the 2nd Annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities in the ballrooms of the UAB Hill Student Center. We had over 200 people in attendance with 35 organizations tabling and sharing resources. Attendees heard from a panel of professionals in the field, as well as from the keynote speaker, Dr. Graham Sisson who serves as the Executive Director at the Governor’s Office on Disability. We are looking forward to connecting with everyone again soon at our next event!

Disability Fall Fest

UAB’S Inaugural Disability Fall Fest was a time of resource sharing, networking, keynote addresses, and fun! We are looking forward to seeing everyone again next year. The UAB Disability Health Coalition was founded in December 2022 as part of the Inaugural International Day of Persons with Disabilities Celebration on UAB Campus with the overarching goal of supporting development of a UAB Community Engaged Disability Health Promotion Coalition to share information and resources as well as build networks and collaborations around the campus and the world on disability related resources, supports, research, teaching, and service.

Founding Partners:

The Inaugural International Day of Persons with Disabilities was held in the December of 2022, and was a call to action for both those living with and without disabilities to make the world a more accessible and equitable place. The event had panel speakers from Disability Support Services, AWARE, Lakeshore Foundation, and the Institute for Human Rights.
