The Deep South Biosafety WTP Advisory Board
The program and activities of the Deep South Biosafety Worker Training Program (WTP) are guided by an Advisory Board which represents key stakeholders and governmental agencies from across the region of Alabama, Mississippi, and the Florida panhandle. The advisory board is comprised of representatives from:
- Alabama Fire College
- Mississippi State Fire Academy
- UAB Health System
- University of Mississippi Medical Center Health System
- Academia within the UAB School of Medicine
- State and Local Health Departments in Alabama and Mississippi
- Jefferson County Healthcare Coalitions
- Mississippi Hospital Associations
- The Center for Domestic Preparedness
- Dr. Jody Wireman, Department of Air Force Civilian
Together, this group provides expertise in occupational safety and health, biosafety, infection control, emergency medical services, medicine, public health preparedness and response, nursing, health system emergency management, medical surge, adult education and training, evaluation, healthcare coalitions, hazardous materials training, and training of individuals working in healthcare and public safety. The advisory board convenes annually and is updated quarterly on the program and activities of the Deep South Biosafety WTP.
