Bryan Becker Lab

The primary research project underway in the Becker laboratory investigates interactions between the autonomic nervous system and blood pressure control and their contributions to diseases such as high blood pressure, heart failure, and kidney failure. Specifically, our laboratory investigates how nerves modulate kidney function and how sensory nerves from the kidney provide feedback on blood pressure control.

Additional research by the Becker laboratory investigates circadian control of blood pressure and central fluid dynamics. We utilize a rat model with the circadian gene, Bmal1, knocked out to explore mechanisms of blood brain barrier integrity and interstitial clearance.
