Families will earn up to $550 for their participation
The UAB Youth Safety Lab invites families with children ages 10, 11 or 12 to participate. Children must have some experience with hunting, shooting or firearms in the home. The study involves 5 visits to the UAB Youth Safety Lab. Parents respond to questionnaires.
Children engage in a range of computer and laboratory tasks, plus respond to short questionnaires. Children will receive training in either firearms safety or nutrition (randomly assigned), and families will earn up to $550 for their participation, including $150 for each 2-hour visit and $50 for each 30-minute training session. Parking is provided. Children receive a toy prize at each visit.
There are no medical or stressful procedures involved and most children enjoy participating.
