Researcher II / Lab Technician Needed

The Yoder lab is looking to hire a person to fill a Researcher II position. This person will be responsible for maintaining a portion of the lab’s mouse colony which includes basic animal husbandry (setting up and checking matings, genotyping, and weaning mice). Previous experience with handling mice is preferred but not required. This person would  also be responsible for basic cell and molecular biology including cell culture and plasmid cloning. Some history with biochemistry is preferred. Importantly, a willingness to learn new techniques is encouraged. General technician duties would include dishwashing and autoclaving, maintaining lab stocks and inventories, and assisting graduate students and postdocs in the lab as needed.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR Associate’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handles mouse colony maintenance (husbandry, tagging, genotyping, weaning, etc).
  • Handles cloning, PCR, and molecular biology.
  • Has general technician duties (dishwashing and autoclaving, maintaining lab stocks and inventories).
  • Assists in mouse dissections and tissue processing for histology and immunofluorescence staining.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
