Amy Hutson Chatham was first my professor and then my supervisor and mentor and one of the first people to facilitate opportunities for me.
From my first job to my current role, Amy has supported me in my growth and has been a reference for every opportunity l’ve been presented with. Amy pours so much into those that are lucky enough to be in her orbit and I know that without her believing in me from the beginning that I would not be where I am today.
I am thrilled to share that I was accepted to the University of Minnesota School of Medicine on June 16th! This achievement is the result of years of hard work, resilience, and the incredible support of mentors like Dr. Chatham.
Dr. Chatham’s guidance has been invaluable, uplifting and inspiring me throughout my journey. Despite facing 19 rejections after applying to 20 schools, I held onto hope. I was eventually invited to interview at UMN, placed on the waitlist, and, to my surprise, accepted just days after my birthday.
This journey has taught me the power of perseverance and mentorship. I am deeply grateful to everyone who believed in me—together, we did it!
Right now, I’m the principal of Neena the LAST Brand, a business rooted in cultural inclusion, digital empowerment, and AI strategy for Black entrepreneurs. I help people turn AI into their silent business partner—without losing their voice in the process. My AmeriCorps service as a Social Media Coordinator didn’t just teach me how to promote programs—it taught me how to tell stories that matter. Anytown’s mission to embrace and elevate our differences lives on in everything I do now. From running national workshops to building culturally fluent GPTs, my work helps folks feel seen and heard in tech spaces that often overlook us.
