Overview

Metabolomics is the study of the metabolome, the collection of small molecule compounds that are essential for life. They are messengers both within cells and between cells and regulators of epigenetic events. Those produced by bacteria may represent the link between the microbiome and chronic diseases in the human host such as cancer, diabetes and obesity. Nationally recognized experts in metabolomics at the Symposium will describe application of targeted and untargeted approaches for carrying out metabolomics in clinical research, the importance of experimental design, and software-assisted analysis of metabolomics data.
