Writing Contest
We’re launching our first ever SPARK Writing Contest sponsored by Bham Now.
This year’s prompt comes to us from our very own UAB Art Studio Lab Supervisor, Heather Holmes. Heather’s design team at Mesh Collective made the giant steampunk safety glass sculpture installed at Red Mountain Park. In theory, these glasses are large enough for Vulcan himself to wear.
So, what’s the challenge? Write a poem (15 lines or less) or a micro-flash fiction (250 words or less) inspired by the safety glass sculpture and submit to SPARKwritingfestival@gmail.com with your name and your category in the subject line. (writers can enter both categories but can only win in one).
Your deadline is JULY 31st at midnight.
Winners will be announced August 6th. Prize includes publication by Bham Now and a feature on the SPARK website.
