Join Us
The Center for the Study of Sexual and Gender Health is powered by its members, including faculty scientists, student scholars, community scientists, and affiliate members. Together, we are writing the script on addressing the root causes of LGBTQ health disparities in Alabama and across the nation.
Membership Categories
Faculty Scientists
Faculty members at UAB or other academic institutions who are engaged in LGBTQ research are eligible to join the Center as associate scientists (assistant professors), scientists (associate professors), or senior scientists (full professors). For UAB faculty, a secondary appointment will be created; a membership letter will be provided to all faculty.
Student Scholars
Students and trainees at UAB or other academic institutions who are interested in LGBTQ research are eligible to join the Center as scholars (undergraduate students) or senior scholars (graduate students and postdoctoral fellows). A membership letter will be provided.
Community Scientists
Collaborators from community-based organizations (CBOs) who are engaged in LGBTQ research with faculty scientists are eligible to join the Center as community scientists (CBO staff) or senior community scientists (CBO leadership). A membership letter will be provided.
Affiliate Members
Staff (i.e., non-faculty) at UAB or other academic institutions who are assisting with LGBTQ research are eligible to join the Center as affiliate members. A membership letter will be provided.
