Tylor Lewis Lab at UAB
Our lab is interested in the molecular mechanisms of vertebrate vision and the pathophysiology of inherited retinal disease. Using cellular, genetic, biochemical and proteomic approaches, we study the light-sensitive rod and cone photoreceptor cells of the retina. Our work seeks to build a better understanding of the basic biology of how photoreceptor cells work as well as identifying pathophysiological mechanisms underlying photoreceptor cell dysfunction and death in a variety of blinding conditions collectively known as inherited retinal disease.
