Kendra Royston is IN! Kendra received her Ph.D. in biology with a focus in cancer epigenetics in 2018. She went on to continue her post-doc education at the University of Chicago before joining Eli Lilly and Company in their department of Global Scientific Communications. Dr. Royston is also the founder of Stupid Science Inc., a nonprofit organization that aims to increase diversity in STEM fields.
Larry Garrett is IN! He received a B.S. in computer science from UAB in 1991. Since graduating, he has worked as a software engineer, IT consultant, and business owner. He is currently working as an IT project manager for Southern Nuclear.
Katie Boyd is IN! She earned a bachelor’s degree in music with a concentration in instrumental music education while participating in the UAB Marching Blazers. Since graduating, she has been teaching the joy of music to elementary school students.
Adam Aldrich is IN! He received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from UAB in 2008 and went on to become the president and co-founder of Airship, a three-time winner of the UAB Excellence in Business Top 25 Fastest Growing Companies.
Daphne Brownlee is IN! In 2010, she graduated with a B.A. from the College of Arts and Sciences and is now working as a phlebotomy supervisor.
Stephanie Hynes is IN! She graduated from UAB in 2011 with a degree in psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences.
Cedric Hampton is IN! He earned a degree in history with a minor in health education while playing football from 2001 to 2006. He’s also a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Emily Nelms Chastain earned her bachelor’s degree in history in 2007. She’s giving back to UAB by serving as a member of the College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Board.
Shontia Brown is IN! After earning her bachelor’s degree in anthropology in 2018, she worked for the YMCA and Alabama Clinical Schools before becoming a case manager at JBS Mental Health Authority.
Tiffany Bishop is IN! In 2008, she earned her B.A. in sociology and went on to work for the McWane Science Center and Girl Scouts of North–Central Alabama before joining The Ōnin Group and becoming their current regional workforce development manager. She is also a founding member of Lead On, a women’s leadership and networking group in Birmingham.
Joel Burks is IN! He graduated from UAB in 2017 with a degree in vocal performance and is currently the associate minister of contemporary worship at Mountain Brook Baptist Church.
Robin Bird is IN! As a 2005 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in communications studies, Robin is now a full member of the NAS.
