Welcome to the Hildreth Lab!
Our laboratory focuses on genetic and therapeutic targeting of the tumor microenvironment in breast cancer and their metastasis, with a special interest in bone metastasis.
For this work, we are very proud to have been funded by the National Institute of Health, the American Cancer Society, the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, METAvivor, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Mission Statement:
i) Delineate transcriptional regulation of macrophage and osteoclast differentiation and macrophage polarization in health and disease, primarily cancer.
ii) Targeting the tumor microenvironment as a means to treat primary breast cancer tumors and their metastasis using novel drug delivery systems.
iii) Identify novel macrophage- and osteoclast-specific targets for the prevention and treatment of primary tumors and their metastasis, with a special interest in bone tumors.
