About GuideSafe™

GuideSafe™ is a platform that empowers everyone to join the fight against COVID-19. GuideSafe™ promotes safer entry methods through testing, tools, and actions. By using testing and self-reporting the GuideSafe™ app provides ongoing COVID-19 monitoring, so you can make informed decisions and help stop the spread. The platform has three tools to help mitigate the risk of exposure and spread of COVID-19: Healthcheck, Exposure Notification Application, and Event Passport. Broader implementation of these tools will help provide even greater safety for us all while letting us live our lives fully once again.

The GuideSafe™ platform and set of tools were developed by a team of expert health, anthropology, and information technology leaders at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), part of the University of Alabama System. GuideSafe™ is led by Sue Feldman, RN, MEd, PhD, and Mohanraj Thirumalai, MSEE, PhD, both in Health Informatics at UAB, with support from executive leadership at UAB.

The GuideSafe™ Exposure Notification is a partnership of Apple, Google, the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). The unique collaboration harnesses the power of technology and UAB’s expertise to automate COVID-19 exposure notification, without sacrificing privacy. MotionMobs, a local Birmingham company, founded by UAB alumni developed the GuideSafe™ Exposure Notification.

Looking to implement the GuideSafe Platform? Connect with our preferred implementation partner, Guideway Care.

Guideway Care works with companies, hospitals, specialty practices and health plans to support patients from initial interest (lead generation and conversion) through their entire care journey (planning, pre-procedure and post-discharge). Guideway’s people and processes help achieve better outcomes, improve patient satisfaction and reduce the costs of providing outstanding care.
