To the FCSC Users,

To accommodate the social distance and other rules to avoid infection to COVID-19, the FCSC is implementing the following procedures to be followed by the FCSC staff and the users, starting on May 26th.


· All users should follow University and CDC recommendations while using the core facility. http://www.alabamapublichealth.gov/infectiousdiseases/assets/cov-flyer-stopthespread.pdf

· All researchers operating any instrument MUST use gloves and should wash their hands with soap thoroughly before and after use.

· Users should not touch doorknobs with gloves on.

· All users should wear PPE while operating any instrument.

· Any investigator, even with minor symptoms (sore throat, coughing, sneezing, low-grade fever), should reschedule their core use for a later date (please allow two weeks gap).

· Users that do not follow the policies will be reported to the PI and/or Director.



· The number of people inside Shelby room 271B (sorting room) is limited to 4 people. One person on FACSMelody, one person on FACSAria SORP, one person on FACSAria II.

· Human samples collected after March 1st will not be sorted.

· Special requests should be made for using the sorter for extended hours.


· Self-run analysis appointments are not affected. The only exception is acquiring samples on LSR II OR Imagestream MKT II (to ensure social distance the LSR II and Imagestream cannot be used at the same time).

· Only one investigator is allowed at each instrument.
