Our NCI funded ENRICH grant, 1R25CA278711-01, allows for the program to fully fund each trainee for 10 weeks. Mentors will have no financial obligation to the trainees in their labs.

UAB faculty members interested in becoming ENRICH mentors for the summer of 2024 should complete the below application as soon as possible, preferably no later than Friday, February 9th.

After your project description has been posted on our website, interested students will forward their CV to you and request a virtual screening interview.  Screening interviews should be conducted promptly, either by Zoom or by phone.  Virtually interview as many students as you wish.

Keep in mind ENRICH can support 30 students in summer 2024.

Invite the student who is your first choice for an in-person interview to finalize your agreement to work together by March 1st, 2024. The ENRICH team is unable to schedule these meetings on your behalf. This in-person interview can be as long or as short as you find necessary. You and the student will then complete the ENRICH Mentoring Contract, sent to you by Eve Phillips. After your meeting and the contract is complete please email it, with the student’s CV, to Program Manager, Eve Phillips, at UABENRICH@uabmc.edu

Key points to keep in mind:

  • Eligible students are graduate and graduate health professional students who are American citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. at either UAB or Samford University
  • A faculty member can submit up to two project descriptions, but each project description should be submitted separately. The two projects can be related, i.e., focus on different aspects of a research grant.
  • Once your project description has been posted, please proofread it on our website to make sure it is correct and complete.
  • Please note that once the screening interviews begin, our 30 internship slots can fill quickly!  Please contact interested students ASAP for an interview. Internships are funded on a first come first serve basis. Given the ENRICH self-matching process, we cannot guarantee that each project submitted will be filled.

If you have questions, please contact Eve Phillips at UABENRICH@uabmc.edu.
