It is the beginning of the summer and this only means one thing: summer students are here!! Yay! We are so happy to welcome Gabriel, Brian and María to the lab this summer! Gabriel is part of the UAB CORD program, María is part of the KURE program and Brian is a UAB/UCSD O’Brien Scholar this summer. Will will also be in the lab sporadically. Welcome all to the De Miguel Lab!!

María, Sharrell and Mingmar present their research at the 2021 ABRCMS conference! Maria was selected for a lightning talk, and Mingmar and Sharrell presented posters. Sharrell won one of the best posters in the Physiology and Pharmacology section, and María received a Lightning Talk award during the conference! So proud of all of you!

Dr. De Miguel was invited to give a seminar at the Department of Pharmacy and Biochemistry at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The title of her talk was: “Inflamación y muerte celular durante la enfermedad renal diabética: el papel de Endothelin-1”.

We are beyond excited that 2 of our lab alumni received acceptance letters to pursue graduate studies! Vianna will be joining the Pathology Graduate Program at Duke University and Rawan will join the Graduate Program in Integrative Biology and Physiology at the University of Minnesota. We are so proud! You both will be great PhDs!
