Ryan Outman, MS


Mr. Outman is Executive Administrator of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a position he started in 2020. Originally from Michigan, Outman earned his MS in psychology from the University of Georgia. In 2007, he joined UAB as a project coordinator and eventually rose to the positions of Deputy Director, Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education (COERE) and Administrative Director, Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences (CCTS) Training Academy in which he had administrative responsibility of various multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research grants and training programs. During this time, Outman served as chair of the UAB UWIRC Council of Center Administrators and was named UAB Employee of the Month in April 2015. From 2017-2020, he served as division administrator for the Division of Hematology and Oncology. In his current role, Outman works with the chair to establish department goals and objectives while collaborating with other departments, centers and clinical units. He directs the department’s operations, financial planning, maintains financial management reporting, monitors expenditures, oversees compliance with policies, procedures and regulations of the University and UAB Medicine while overseeing the department’s clinical, educational, and research missions.
