Dr. Jeffery Walker will be the next Director of the Center for the Study of Community Health (CSCH) at the UAB School of Public Health. In addition to leading the Center, he will continue to serve as the Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Walker has been involved with the CSCH for over three years and takes over from Dr. Suzy Davies, who is retiring from UAB. The CSCH is one of the 25 CDC-funded Prevention Research Centers, continuously funded at UAB since 1993.

“I am excited to continue working with the Center, and more importantly working with the people of Birmingham to improve lives and help revitalize disadvantaged neighborhoods. The Center is a key element in positive change in our city, and I look forward to having a part in continuing the great work the Center has been doing,” said Dr. Walker.
