Dr. Chu and Dr. Theiss participated in a virtual press conference hosted by the American College of Surgeons to present new findings on the impact of low health literacy on surgical patient outcomes. Using the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NISQIP) along with medical records, they were able to see patient compliance rates with UAB’s Enhanced Recovery Program (ERP).
