INTRACELLULAR SIGNALING AND MOLECULAR MECHANISMS LABORATORY

Achieving a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms by which cells communicate and control their function allows the identification of the causes of disease and presents new targets for therapeutic intervention.  Innovative new approaches to understanding cellular function in the context of brain circuitry as well as maladaptations that lead to diseases such as cancer highlight the need for higher resolution insights into the underlying basic molecular and biochemical processes. Under the direction of Dr. James Bibb, the Intracellular Signaling and Molecular Mechanisms lab is using cutting-edge techniques to identify novel signaling mechanisms that can serve as drug targets and diagnostic biomarkers of diseases of the brain and cancer. We depend on the generous support of philanthropists and donors as well as granting agencies to advance our knowledge of intracellular signaling.
