Future Public Service Leaders Academy
The Future Public Service Leaders Academy empowers students to become leaders in their communities by providing the skills and confidence to address society’s toughest public problems. Through an immersive and interactive week-long experience, students will craft a vision for their public service leadership by exploring avenues of public service and engaging with influential leaders in the public and nonprofit sectors.
APSTI will host rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders for a weeklong opportunity to learn about public service values and careers through:
- Simulations of government meetings
- Deliberative dialogue forum on a current event
- Service time at a local nonprofit
- Tour of local government or nonprofit (e.g., City Hall)
- Q&As with leaders in the field to learn more about careers of interest
- A networking fair with representatives from educational institutions and prospective employers
By the end of the week, you’ll craft a vision of one or more career paths in public service that align with your interests and goals, and you’ll have a plan for how to continue towards that goal. Whether your interests lie in human services; government and public administration; law and public safety; education; healthcare; or other areas, there is a future for you in public services, and we look forward to helping you discover it!
