Unsung Heroes

This invitation-only event seeks to bring together “Unsung Heroes”, those nonprofit and government public service individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their fields. We’ll gather to hear examples of how their work has improved the effectiveness, efficiency, and responsiveness of their respective organizations, learning from each other and our keynote speaker, Nick Sims.

Keynote speaker bio: Nick serves as City Councilor for the City of Homewood, being first elected in October 2020. He is also Vice-President for Allocations and Grants at the United Way of Central Alabama, overseeing processes to distribute over $25 million in funding annually. He previously served as VP of Community Initiatives where he managed direct services focused on early education, health, financial stability, and access to services. He will share insights and inspirations learned working across the public and nonprofit sectors.
