Public Health in Action: Attending the CUGH Pre-Conference Workshop

The SOPH will be taking a group of interested students to attend the CUGH 2025 Pre-Conference Workshop in Atlanta, GA—an exceptional opportunity for public health students to experience a global health event up close! The Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) is a leading organization dedicated to building collaborations and advancing global health education, research, and service. UAB is proud to be a member of this consortium through the Sparkman Center for Global Health, which is co-hosting this workshop.
This workshop will feature the session titled, “How can implementation research be used to advance health equity in global health? Case examples, strategies, and outcomes.” During this session, students will explore real-world strategies for advancing health equity, hear from leading experts, and gain valuable insights into the role of implementation research in global health. This is a unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge ideas, network with professionals and peers from around the world, and represent UAB at a prestigious global health event.
Don’t miss out on this chance to attend an international event happening so close to UAB! The CUGH conference is hosted in different locations each year, making this a rare and accessible opportunity for our students. The bus will depart the SOPH at 8:00 AM SHARP via charter bus and will return by 7:00 PM. Light refreshments will be provided during the session, attendees will be responsible for their own lunch.
1. This trip will take place on February 20, 2025. We will depart the SOPH at 8:00 AM SHARP via charter bus and will return by 7:00 PM. If you are late, the bus will not wait for you.
2. Space on the bus is limited. The first 40 people who register using this form will be able to attend.
4. Space is limited and slots are open to all UAB Students, staff, and faculty. Registration slots will be prioritized for students.
5. Some snacks will be provided on the bus, but a meal will not be provided, attendees will be responsible for their own meals.
6. The deadline to register is January 31, 2025 at 4PM CT, or whenever all spots are filled.
