About Our Collaborative

About Us

At a timely moment in the work of maternal and child health (MCH) in Alabama, a group of stakeholders committed to perinatal health gathered for the annual Ann Dial McMillan Endowed Lectureship in Family and Child Health in the spring of 2018 in Birmingham. The goal for this particular year, however, was not just to highlight an important issue in MCH but to mobilize for action to address the unabating affronts to the health of mothers and babies in the state. A national model had been set in the form of Perinatal Quality Collaboratives, and Alabama was ready to follow the lead of other states in their example. With the help of members of the Ohio Perinatal Quality Collaborative, this convening of stakeholders birthed what is now known as the Alabama Perinatal Quality Collaborative (ALPQC).

Our Vision

To advance health quality and equity for all mothers and babies in Alabama.

Our Mission

The Alabama Perinatal Quality Collaborative exists to promote optimal health for Alabama mothers and babies by connecting key health and community stakholders, sharing opportunities for education and training, and advancing the quality and safety of care through collaborative cooperation, evidence-based practices, and equitable approaches to care.
